Abhay Group was established by my father Shri Vinodbhai Chhapia in 1955 as a Indenting House having representation of almost all companies from East European Countries for selling their Textile Raw Materials in Indian Market.

Besides Viscose Rayon Yarns, Nylon Filament Yarns and other types of yarns and fibers, Raw Silk, Silk Fabrics got added to the Indenting Business in 1978. This is when I, Abhay V Chhapia joint the company.

In 1990, I started Garment Manufacturing Division in Mumbai. We started small with just 20 machines, but all imported from Japan. In 2003, we had 100 machines manufacturing nightwear. In 2005, we were approached by Carvico SpA, Italy to sell their specialty fabrics made in Italy (warp knitted Polyamide/Lycra fabrics), in the Indian Market. It was a challenge selling high priced Italian Fabric in competition with the cheap Chinese or Korean Fabric which the Indian Manufacturers were used to buying. Because it was a challenge and because of the quality which we saw in the Italian Carvico Fabric, we took up the challenge.

Since this fabric was also difficult to sew, we added one complete new line in our factory for using only Carvico Fabrics. Special training was given to each tailor and soon we had expert tailors in sewing Carvico Fabrics. We then converted the entire factory into this specialty fabric sewing unit. We have been an OEM since 2006.

Now we are proud to say in 2010 , that 95% of the Indian Swimwear Manufacturers are using Carvico Fabrics and almost all the top Indian Lingere Manufacturers are using Carvico Fabrics.

On Jan 16th 2010, we soft launched our Sportswear and Yogawear Brand ATTIVA, using these highly specialized Carvico Fabrics.
