China is equally famous for its garment and textile manufacturing and also for its consumption too. Post millennium, from the beginning of 2001 to 2004, the urban resident population increased 18.25%, the net was over 80,000,000. During the four years, each resident’s expenditure in clothing increased 10.72% annually which increased to 16.05% in 2005.
Why CIGF?
China government has promoted and renamed Dalian International Garment Fair(DIGF)which has a tract record of 17 years’ exhibition organizing history as China International Garment&Textile Fair(CIGF), mutually sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of People’s Republic of China, Dalian Municipal people’s Government.
It aims to showcase China Bohai Gulf, and the Northeast region, and to inspire domestic consumption demand, for implementing the strategy of support for self-innovation branding, meanwhile encouraging garment, textile and relevant fashionable brands import, from the year of 2006. Following are the few highlights of the event:
- It is one of the earliest garment fairs on Mainland China since 1988.
- This will be the 17th Edition staged in September.

The fair is positioned as a main stage for foreign branded garment entering China market, a main gateway for Chinese garment entering international market, a window for garment and textile R&D, design and innovation and a release center for fashion trend information of garment.
 Dalian would be holding the first CIGF 2006 at Dalian World Expo Center and Dalian Xinghai Convention & Exhibition Center from Sept. 9th to Sept. 12th, 2006. The exhibition space of 50,000sqms, would capacitate 2,000 standard booths. The exhibition hall will be divided into several areas. They are International Fashion Brands Exhibition, Domestic Fashion Brands Exhibition, Textile Exhibition, Textile Machinery Exhibition, and Creative Design Industry Exhibition. Some activities will be held during the period of the fair. They are The World Outstanding Designer Fashion Show, Fashion Brands Promotion, Garment & Textile Fashion Trend Release, Domestic & Foreign Garment & Textile Economic Forum and Strategy Seminar for Foreign Garment Entering China Market.
Organizers will make good use of the advantages and would also integrate resources contributed by Dalian International Garment Festival and former Dalian International Garment Fair. Organizers will proudly invite about 15,000 visitors from about 5,000 selected organizations, which are international trade representatives, professional buyers, domestic professional importers, department stores, garment & textile wholesalers and agents.
