The Damani Group of Companies was started by the Late Mr. Bhairuratan Damani who migrated from Bikaner, Rajasthan to India's commercial capital, Mumbai, as a young man in the early 1940s. After initial forays into the stock market and the bullion market, specially for trading in silver, the group focused on textile trading. This culminated in the acquisition of a composite textile mill, The Jamshri Ranjitsinghji Spinning and Weaving Mills Co. Ltd., at Solapur, in 1953. The group has since then continuously focused on quality and reliability in all its activities. The main focus at Jamshri now is on spinning quality 100% cotton and blended yarns and 100% Cotton Terry Towels at its unit in Solapur.

The group has recognized the rapid changes in the world market place, specially China’s global domination in manufacturing of almost all industrial as well as consumer products. In order to take advantage of the opportunities resulting from this, the group has established a representative office at China for sourcing products from China as well as for exporting Indian products to China. The groups other business interests include a significant presence in the real estate development and trading market. The group is now spearheaded by the sons of the Late Mr. Bhairuratan Damani,

Mr. Premratan Damani, and Mr. Navratan Damani, his younger brother.

The Jamshri Ranjitsinghji Spinning and Weaving Mills

The Jamshri Ranjitsinghji Spinning and Weaving Mills was set up in 1907 by the Late Mr. Lalji Narayanji, who was an entrepreneur from Jamnagar.

Damani group acquired Jamshri in 1953, and since then has run the mill successfully, always maintaining stress on quality and customer satisfaction. At present the group has redefined its product focus looking to the changing scenario of the textile industry in India. It now concentrates mainly on spinning yarn. For this it has a total capacity of 25000 spindles. The company makes both 100% cotton as well as blended yarns. About 20% of the production is for export.

The entire plant i.e. Blow Room, Card, Draw Frames, Combers, Ring Frames are supplied by Lakshmi Machine Works. Rieter is world famous for its technical superiority in this industry. The Auto Coners are supplied by Schlaforst. The company has also a well-equipped modern laboratory.
