Interview Mr Hikmet Tanriverdi -Chairman, iNCi Group
iNCi Group of Companies is a pioneer in the textile sector by means of its plants operating in Clothing Supplier industry and its sales stores. Incorporated in the year 1976, by founder Mr Fikret Tanriverdi, iNCi Group started initially as GUVEN FERMUAR- the zipper trading firm.
Taking quality and customer satisfaction as its core corporate ethic, the Group has become an indispensable institution of Turkish textile industry in terms of technology and fashion by having proven its quality at international levels. The Group, operating through its 12 group companies, offers thousand of products in apparel, textile raw materials manufacturing, export, foreign trade, mining, insurance and automotive industries.
Mr Hikmet Tanriverdi, the brother of founder of the Group- Mr Fikret Tanriverdi, is the Chairman of iNCi Group.
Mr Tanriverdi has been in textile sector since 1975. He has chaired the board of various associations namely Merter Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association – Chairman (1998:2000); Businessmen’s Association of Malatya – Founder Member and Vice Chairman for 3 terms; Ready-Made Clothes Supplier Industrialists’ Association – Founder Member and President, Chairman (1995:1999); Clothing Manufacturers’ Association of Turkey– Member; Young Businessmen Association of Turkey – Member; GISAD – Garment and Textile Industry Foreign Trade Joint Stock Company – Founder Partner, CEO (1997: 2000), Chairman (2000 : 2002); Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters’ Association – Board Member (1996 : 1998); Istanbul Chambers of Commerce – Assemblyman since 1996, Board Member (1998 : 2005); Kastamonu Holding Joint Stock Company – Founder Partner; Dogu Yatirim Holding Joint Stock Company – Founder Partner, Chairman (2001 : 2005)
Mr Tanriverdi has also been elected as the Chairman of Istanbul Apparel Exporters’ Association (ITKIB) in June 2008. Besides, he is also associated with social institutions like Federation for the Physically Disabled – Vice President (1999 : 2001); Malatya Sports Club – President (2001: 2006); Association of Malatya Civil Society Organizations – President; Bakirkoy Reception Institute Foundation – Trustee; Malatya Education Foundation– Trustee; Honorary Counsel of Macedonia; WUSHU Federation – Board Member.
In academics, he has done BA with distinction in Social Sciences and Public Administration & International Relations, from Marmara University. Mr Tanriverdi was born in 1962 in Malatya. He is married and has three children.

iNCi – meaning the pearl, sounds interesting! And the written spelling of your company name that starts and ends with small ‘i’- we believe, suggests some philosophy behind. Is it so?

Well said, that is why, we named our company so. Inci - the Pearl has an underneath meaning of pureness. The philosophy, behind small ‘i’s - placed at the same level with the other letters in the word iNCi, is to represent that we are at the same closeness to all our clients by not categorizing any of them with their capacity and volume of their business. We are pure, straight and open to all the companies in our sector by giving them the same service.

Since last 2-3 decades the Turkish textile industry has taken a great leap forward making a name for it-self in markets worldwide. What would you like to say on iNCi‘s role and performance in this move being an active player in textiles for the past 33 years?

You are right! We have made a great leap forward. In this industry, as iNCi, we have discharged our duty well by playing major role in getting adapted to the ever changing needs of the market. This is possible only by leading the partnership with the spirit of team work. It is known fact that ready made garments industry does not consist only ‘cut and sew’. In the process- starting from the cotton in the field till the product ready in the shops, a vital role is to be played by various other sectors like fabrics, trims and accessories etc too. So every sector has the responsibility to be a good player. We were one of them, for iNCi has done a good job to cooperate and serve the industry by following updated needs in the market and being a flexible partner as ancillary industrialist.
