Abstract
The application oriented feature of textile materials in
various technical fields has lead to the wide focus of textiles in recent
years. Geo & Medical Textiles has gained importance over the last two decade.
The ability of Geo & Medical Textiles to important strength and increase liter
of textile materials has now changed the view about the textile sciences. Here,
the basic concepts of Geo & Medical Textiles have been dealt with detail.
The basics, function, classification etc, are explained with necessary
stresses.
The contribution of geo textiles in the field of civil
engineering & environmental sciences has indeed been astounding. The
strength implication and service life addition of the various civil
construction like "roads, railways, basements etc," due to imparting
of geo textile materials in the actual construction is many times greater in
the actual life of these constructions.
Textile products are omnipresent in the field of human
hygiene and medical practice. Their use is based on a number of typical basic
textile properties like softness and lightness, flexibility, absorption,
filtering etc. Traditional applications include wound care products, diapers,
braces, protheses and orthoses, wipes, breathing masks, bedding and covers,
ropes and belts etc.
