In the field of technical textiles, the companies of the Van
de Wiele Group are active in different sectors of textile machinery and are
offering solutions to actual demands of their technical textile customers.
NV Michel van de Wiele, the leading supplier of carpet and
velvet weaving machines offers machinery and know-how, based on the double
cloth weaving principle. Double cloth fabrics have three yarn systems: pile
warp, backing warp and weft. With the double cloth weaving process, two
superimposed backing fabrics are woven simultaneously, while the pile warp is
connecting both fabrics together. The so obtained double fabric is split on the
double rapier weaving machine by the pile cutting motion into a top and bottom
fabric.
When the pile cutting motion is not used, the Van de Wiele
weaving machines are able to produce distance fabrics, transportation fabrics
and other technical fabrics.
The weaving process gives the opportunity to create dense
top and bottom layers with almost stretched fibers, and with connections
between those layers.
