Pakistan has the 45th largest economy globally; in terms of official
exchange rates. The countrys textile industry is a major contributor to the
economy in terms of foreign revenue and employment generation. It contributes
to 8.5% GDP, and generates employment opportunities for 39% of the total
manufacturing workforce. It is the fourth largest producer, and third largest
consumer of cotton.
Textile industry in Pakistan contributes more than 50% of
the countrys total exports. During 2008, of the total exports from the
country, textile exports constituted to $7.21 billion USD, and garment exports were
worth $3.25 billion USD. It has successfully proved its consistency in
maintaining its export volume.

Exhibition of Garment & Textile Technology-MEGATECH Pakistan is scheduled from 4-6 March 2010 at the Karachi Expo Centre, in Karachi, the Commercial

international marketing. The centre is well equipped with up to date
facilities, and international standards creating a niche of its own kind. Participation
