Computer-aided design (CAD) is one of the actual trends of technological pre-production development which provides high quality and efficiency of design projects. Designing of technological process (TP) assisted by CAD systems allows in a short time to perform preparatory stages before launching new models into production. A stage of technological design is a preparing of technological documentation which describes a process of a new model manufacturing. The input data for the item design will be: a technical sketch, a description of the models appearance and a specification of the cutting details.

It is known that text documentation resulted from traditional technological product design does not reveal the links between items, equipment and definite elements of TP, which prevents us from developing of an efficient design of production. Therefore we developed a method for composition of graphical documentation assisted by CAD which reveals external structure of TP of clothes manufacturing with the links extracting.

The main stages of clothes manufacturing TP are the following: parts processing and their joining into a garment. The stage of parts processing assumes parallelism of details and units treatment. The garment units are separate parts of the garment according to construction and technological processing (front and back panels, collar and etc.). During the stage of parts processing each unit is made of one or several cut details which processing can be composed from units processing. The unit is a complex part of the garment which is characterized by completeness of technological processing. The followings are determined as the units which can belong to any garment details: pockets, fastenings, vents and openings.

During the stage of parts joining the garment details are joined to each other. For example the constructive elements (CE) of clothes with waistbands joining stage are side, step, middle cuts, top and hem cuts of the product. Determination of the CE sequence at the stage of joining requires analysis of all elements links, and this considerably complicates the process of the technological sequence formation. Existence of some model-constructive features in the garment details changes the sequence of CE processing. Thus, for example, the design of trousers waistband determines the processing sequence at the stages of middle, side and top cuts processing.
