Abstract


Nano-technology is one of the latest innovations inthis time that has shaped the today's lifestyle. The innovative and successfulapplication of this technology has reached at almost every sector of our dailylife. This project tries to shed light on one of the brilliant applications ofnanotechnology to obtain self-cleaning properties on textiles substrates. Thetechnology uses polymer film mixed with silvernanoparticles as a surface coating and works on principle to control thewettability and surface tension. The application is already commerciallyavailable and research work on diversification of uses and further developmentespecially to attain multipurpose behaviours with self-cleaning properties isin progress.


Introduction


In our everyday's life we are always concern aboutthe cleanliness of our clothes and thus demand a lot of water, energy and time.With the development in science and technology, self cleaning clothes are nomore the things of dreams. It's a brilliant application of nanotechnology thathas made possible to obtain this properties on clothes and other materials aswell. The technology uses nanocrystals treatment bycontrolling wettability and surface interaction.
