European catwalks and streets are buzzing with dark hairs be at    Balenciaga, Nicolas Ghesquiere or Gucci. Super models Carmen Kass, Lily Donaldson, Raquel Zimmermann at the recent show in Europe appeared with much more intense hair with tinted shades of warm caramel, chestnut and strawberry. Look of the models are often selected which connote the clothes. Till today blondes were the choice on the runways but the tides are turning around. Natural brunettes are squashing off the blonde color from their hair and going back to their roots whereas born blondes are applying dark shades to embrace the new rage.

Stylists at the salons are encountering cases wherein blondes are turning to brunettes. So what is all the new rage for? Survey shows that brunettes are considered   trustworthy and responsible; people tend to take brunets more seriously than blondes. Hairstylist Laurie Foley who has a stylist salon in the heart of New York says   Chemical blondes comes in and ask for cutting because of damage and I talk them out of cutting it all off. I tell them they can get the illusion of healthy hair with the correct tone of brunette. They can get that high end luxury look, but also incredibly shiny, healthy looking hair. (Inputs from vogue)

Brunette helps not only cover grey but it aids in giving extra color and dimension to the hair. Also due to financial reasons people are going from blonde to brunette as it helps the client to extend their salon visits. Foley says After going dark, almost everyone says how much shinier their hair is, the cuticle shrinks and the hair looks shinier and healthy. Dr. Helen Fisher, an anthropologist at Rutgers University, says blond is outdated and a head full of natural, glowing brown hair looks more youthful. The blonde is becoming more and more of the lady who lunches, the kind of woman who does nothing all day except get her hair done," she said. "The blonde used to be regarded as natural, and now everyone knows that it's not. Dark hair was always considered sexy and attractive because it signified youth. Also with every other female going blonde
brunettes stand out in the crowd.

Celebrity hairstylist Oscar Blandi says People are getting tired of the Paris Hilton bimbo-blonde look. They want to look intelligent and sexy, and you can be sexy and be a brunette.

An opinion poll was conducted on forum hub Blondes vs. Brunettes: Which do you prefer? This poll started in 2005 and went on for a year till 2006 with majority of the  responses preferring brunette look than the blonde as blondes are considered to be plastic and glamorous dolls as per the responses to that poll.

Even hair color companies have started
promoting dark hues looking at the popularity of the brunettes. Also looking at the global audience especially in the African and Asian subcontinent people with dark skin prefers dark hues more than the blonde look. So this season get out the brunette in you and enjoy the entire intense stare you get, all the while making you more glamour and serious in your role.
