Lakshmi Challa holds a Masters in Home Science. After completing her Masters, she worked as a lecturer for some time in Acharya N.G.Ranga Agril. University, Hyderabad. Later she shifted to R.K.Industries, Chennai, where she worked as a Senior Merchandiser. She has also been working as a lecturer in St. Mary’s Home Science College, Calicut.

Currently she is working as guest faculty lecturer in the department of Apparel Technology and Management at the Bangalore University. She has also conducted various training programmes in clothing and textiles. She is interested in Indian Traditional embroideries and research studies.
