Mr Giorgio Crespi joined the warp knitting department of EUROJERSEY in 1960. In the following years

How was the recent performance of Italian textile industry?

Unfortunately, in general terms the performance of the Italian textile industry has registered a 20% decrease in total turnover in the last months. This is mostly due to increasing competition from the Far Eastern countries. At consumer level, we have a strong reduction of purchases.

Growing demands of the textile industry are hard to fathom and slow to respond, at times. How does Eurojersey make it up in such testing times?

In this context, JUST IN TIME DELIVERY is fundamental. EUROJERSEY is able to guarantee finished product stock availability throughout the year and all over the world, and this is possible thanks to the presence of our two main logistics bases – one in Italy and the other in Hong Kong. In this way we can always guarantee ready-dyed fabrics or fabrics ready to be dyed according to our customer’s request. The Sensitive® fabric range developed by EUROJERSEY is 100% produced in Italy in our exclusive industrial complex. Our product is the result of over 15 years of research and development dedicated to this single specific project, which has been cultivated and perfected by means of constant evolution. In all these years we have always invested for the most efficient production which enables us to respond to the most exacting market demands, in terms of both volume and delivery times, and bespoke requirements. We are proud to be the trusted partner of some of the most demanding global brands, to whom we can offer maximum reliability in delivery times, production capacity, and adaptation to customers’ special requests. Office locations in Europe, America and Asia also enable EUROJERSEY to guarantee an excellent customer care and marketing service, as well as maximising delivery times of its exclusively Italian-made products all over the world.

What is so special about the Sensitive® brand?

The exclusiveness of Sensitive®, which encompasses every level of the product from philosophy to fabric quality, is guaranteed by the trademark and hang tag that distinguishes garments made with EUROJERSEY fabrics, and acts as a real certificate of authenticity. The 100% Made in Italy origin of Sensitive® is a guarantee of product quality and is displayed as a sign of quality and difference on top of the range clothing. In order to protect both manufacturers and consumers against the risk of imitations, Eurojersey distributes Sensitive® certificates of authenticity (hang tags) with its fabrics to identify the product on the finished garment and draw attention to its extra features. Around 100 million Sensitive® hang tags have been distributed worldwide, and are helping to increase international awareness of the Sensitive® brand. Today the brand is a fundamental part of the international success of Sensitive®. Sensitive® is a brand with a strong emotional impact. It is an evocative, international name that is easily remembered and instantly brings to mind pleasurable sensations. Sensitive® is an emerging name in the global panorama of textile brands. Increasingly popular, it is sought after not only by companies, but also by the general public. And… last but not least, what makes Sensitive extraordinary is our team, a group of very talented professionals, very much committed to quality, creativity and above all to our customers’ business.

What are the key trends that you are facing in the industry today?

We at EUROJERSEY are more and more focused on consumer demand for wellness, comfort and health. We think that consumers are today number one priority for the market and we try to do our best to supply apparel companies not only with our outstanding fabric range but with product concepts, new ideas and solutions that will bring better “feel good” performance.

What new markets and products are you looking forward to in the coming times?

"Our focus is to consolidate Intimate Apparel and Swimwear markets at international level and to expand in new business opportunities. Versatility is the fundamental prerogative of Sensitive®, and it is this quality that distinguishes it from any other warp-knit fabric making it suitable for the widest variety of applications. Ideal uses for Sensitive® range from swimwear to classic underwear, sports underwear, sportswear, and ready-to-wear (shirts, trousers, jackets, etc.). Exceptional performance can be obtained for technical garments for active sports due to optimal muscular compression during dynamic movement. Sensitive® has also revealed its surprising suitability for shoes, accessories and home furnishings."

What are the challenges you are facing in the industry today?

In the past producers could “impose” their products, while today the apparel business is consumer driven. The industry need to adapt to consumer’s demand and create products that can fulfill new desires and needs.

How were the responses from the Trade Fairs you attended?

Today the attendance to Trade fairs is still very important for opening new markets, face new opportunities and create partnerships. In an ever changing global market, we need to maintain strong human relations with our clients and our partners and fairs still have this strategic role.
