X-Rite, a leading colour management and colour communication company serving the textile and other related industries, is setting new standards in colour management. The company makes sure that accuracy is maintained for minimal wastage during the production process. Felix Pinto, Regional Manager-South Asia of X-Rite Inc explains their functioning in detail in an interview with Fibre2Fashion.

What is the size of the colour management industry globally?

Globally, the colour management industry represents $1 billion in market size.
 

What percentage of your overall revenue comes from the textile, apparel and fashion sector?

X-Rite Pantone works with a large audience of professionals like brand owners or designers, printers and converters, retail, photo, paint, cosmetics, plastics, textile and other industries. Textile is one of the core businesses of the company. Some very important projects have been initiated. Our presence at ITMA 2015 in Milano and the high quantity and quality of visitors that stopped at our booth show how X-Rite Pantone has become a key player in the textile market.

How often does X-Rite Pantone introduce new colours?

In September 2015, Pantone introduced a range of new shades for fashion, home and interiors, featuring the most sought-after hues for today and tomorrow. With colour stories constantly shifting and redefining themselves in the market, the collection of 210 new shades gives a bigger range of creative expression. It also ensures that your colour palettes are fresh, modern and relevant. Focused on areas of significant market importance, each of the 210 new colours was strategically selected. Now, enjoy a rich colour vocabulary with 2,310 technically achievable shades for fashion, home and interiors!

What are 'colour standards’? What is their significance in the textile, apparel and fashion industry?

Pantone has been the world’s colour authority for nearly 50 years, providing design professionals with products and services for the colourful exploration and expression of creativity. There are several colour standards in the textile industry. Based on our experience and surveys conducted during ITMA 2015 in Milano on the visitors, Pantone Textile System and Pantone Coated Swatches are used often by professionals in textile industry.

How can the communication of colour be made easy for designers across the world? What is the role played by the latest software or cloud technologies in this?

Leading colour-workflow digitisation for the supply chain, X-Rite Pantone ensures that the colour intent is accurately portrayed, prepared and produced from the point of inspiration through manufacturing to final product. We develop colour management solutions to ensure that the communication of colour is easy, and the back and forth sample sending is avoided. How do you help in waste reduction in the global colouring and dyeing industry?

What was your growth percentage in terms of revenue in the last fiscal?

X-Rite and Pantone have grown significantly in the past two years. They are accepted and specified by major brands. Our customers can benefit from the global installation, support, training and service.

What are your expectations from the coming two fiscals?

We expect a strong growth in all the industry segments.
