‘Indian footwear market is nascent and largely a trend follower’

Is the Indian footwear market a trend setter or a follower? Please explain.

I believe that the Indian footwear market is still nascent, and is a trend follower.

In India, more than celebrities, it is the stylists and bloggers who play an important role in bringing out trends and educating consumers. They are the ones who experiment, work closely with celebrities and keep up with the latest trends. Currently, we do see the dependency on western market.

We want to change that with our design philosophy. The design cycle for our collections start six months in advance. So, we launch our collections around the same time as big global brands. We are constantly designing and innovating on new heel styles, upper designs, toe shapes and embellishments.

In the long term, we want to be recognised globally as trend setters for the footwear market.

We are very excited and optimistic about the future. We want to offer a complete shoe shopping experience by pioneering mass customisation where every last detail will be managed to perfection. We want to be recognised for our innovative, fashionable, exclusive and premium designs and our cutting-edge technology and grow our international footprint. We want to be a home-grown bespoke footwear brand that is recognised globally.
