Leigh offers about 150 grades of processed textile wastes and by-products. There are two main groupings of products:

• Cleaned cotton waste
• Fibers made by opening yarns, cuttings or rags, or filament waste.

Cleaned Cotton Waste & Gin Motes
Our cotton waste department cleans through willows and, when appropriate, cotton ginning equipment, soft cotton waste such as card waste and motes from textile mills. This same equipment is used for cleaning gin motes from cotton gins.

This material may be used in coarse yarn spinning, cotton felts for mattresses and futons, paper making, bleached wadding, cosmetic puffs, and many other uses.

Leigh is a commission processor cleaning card waste for textile mills, as well as opening cotton thread waste for their reuse.

Cleaned Cotton Fibers

Our products and services include willowed card waste, lint cleaned card waste, lint cleaned motes, and contract processing of card waste for spinners.

 

Opened Thread, Fabrics, & Filament Waste
We use large cutting and tearing machines to process all types of waste, bringing it back into fiber, such as:

• Cotton or polyester/cotton thread waste
• Polyester tow or filament waste
• Apparel cuttings
• Carpet yarn waste and scraps
• Selvage waste
• Etc.

Using our specialized equipment, we can blend and process almost any variety of waste to produce grades with the desired characteristics of:

• Color
• Fiber length
• Material openness
• Fiber content (cotton, polyester, nylon, etc.)
• Fiber denier (coarseness)

We often work with customers to design grades for their unique application. Examples include grades made from:

• White thread waste for filters
• Polyester filaments for blankets
• Carpet waste for carpet underlay pads
• Apparel cuttings for automotive sound deadening pads
• Cuttings and threads for mattress insulator pads

We have the equipment and technical experience to ensure uniform quality for every customer. We are in the process of being certified ISO 9002.

Fibers Used

We make products of various fiber types, including cotton, acrylic, polyester, polypropylene, nylon, rayon, acetate, wool, jute/hard fibers, aramids, as well as synthetic fiber blends, and blends of natural and synthetic fibers.

 

Degree of Processing

Depending on the customer's needs, we can process these fibers long, short, thread with bits of flags, or thread free at the customer's request.

Color Requirements

Grades will be made using specific raw materials to fit the customer's color requirements. The grades may be white, bleached, tinted, mixed colors, etc.
