Ramesh Poddar unanimously elected as President of FAITMA

Shri Ramesh Poddar, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Siyaram Silk Mills Ltd, has been unanimously elected as President of Federation of All India Textile Manufacturers' Associations (FAITMA) for the years 2006-07 and 2007-08, consequent upon Shri Arvind Poddar demitting the office of President after nurturing that organization continuously for five years since it was established.
To start a new industry organization, in a crowded field is an arduous and stupendous job. However, under the captaincy of Shri Arvind Poddar, FAITMA emerged as an umbrella organization of the textile industry having in its membership diverse segments of the industry like fibre manufacturers, texturisers, spinning mills, composite mills, semi-composite mills, processing factories, garment manufacturers, manufacturers of dyes, chemicals, and machinery and trade etc.
The role of FAITMA has not been confined only to fiscal and administrative laws but it has positioned itself for a wider spectrum of activities.
FAITMA has been holding national and international seminars on various topics of interest to the textile industry. Recently, FAITMA has launched a path-breaking programme to create a number of cells/expert committees devoted to specific subjects like Technical Textiles, Home Textiles, Apparels, Buying Houses, Engineering Cell, Traders' Council, Environment Cell, Trend Forum etc. FAITMA has also launched its monthly magazine which has been well-received.
