CMAI's Rahul Mehta elected new IAF president

Mr. Rahul Mehta, who has been serving as president of the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) since many years, has been elected as new president of the International Apparel Federation (IAF) for the coming two years.
 
Mr. Mehta was elected by the general assembly of the IAF, held during the 30th IAF World Fashion Convention in Medellin, Colombia. He succeeds Harry van Dalfsen who has been IAF’s leader in the past four years.
 
The IAF general assembly also elected Mr. Claudio Marenzi, president of the Italian Apparel and Textile Association Systema Moda Italia (SMI) as vice-president of IAF.
 
Matthijs Crietee, who is currently depty secretary-general, will take over as the new secretary-general, effective January 1, 2015, in place of Han Bekke, who will step down at the end of this year after serving in this position for eight years.
 
Han Bekke was elected as new member of the IAF board in which he will take the position as treasurer from Hasan Arat who stepped down as member of the board.
 
IAF is the world’s leading federation for apparel manufacturers, their associations, apparel retailers and the supporting industry. IAF’s membership includes apparel associations from nearly 40 countries representing over 150,000 companies that provide products and services to the apparel industry – a membership that represents over 5 million employees.
