Heiq presenting fluorine free DWR technologies at ITMA

Heiq is showing three sustainable product novelties of its fluorine free durable water repellent (DWR) technologies at ITMA 2015 in hall 8, stall E 105.
“We focus entirely on DWR technologies without fluorocarbons and thus provide environmentally-friendly alternative solutions to textile brands with diverse applications,” a Heiq press release informed.
According to Heiq, lately outdoor brands have been under pressure from a number of environmental NGOs, criticising the use of fluorocarbon (PFC) based chemicals to achieve durable water-repellence performance.
“This criticism is based on the findings that PFCs are bio accumulative and persistent in the environment,” the Switzerland based company said.
HeiQ's Barrier Eco is one of the first water repellent finishes without the use of fluorocarbons and has been adopted by brands like, The North Face, Völkl, Jack Wolfskin, Vaude, Mark's and Outerknown.
Barrier Eco's innovative hyper-branched 3D structure imitates a duck's feathery coat and repels water and snow effectively and ecologically without any harmful fluorocarbons so there are no PFOSs or PFOAs.
“Furthermore, this Bluesign approved and Oekotex certified technology provides a soft handle and retains breathability, and so is suited for jackets, hiking pants, fleece and also footwear,” it added.
Heiq will also present the enhanced product version Barrier Eco Dry, which offers an all-round product application for all fibre types with improved performance results.
Heiq has also optimised its fluorine free product formulation with Barrier Eco Cel to maximise performance on cotton and Barrier Eco Pes on pure polyester fibres.
