Cancer survivors design jersey for Oregon football team

Three young cancer patients from Doernbecher Children's Hospital at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland have teamed up with Nike and three football players to design the outfit that the University of Oregon football team will wear for its September 9 game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers, representing the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
All proceeds from the sales of the ‘vapour untouchable uniform’ designed by the patients — Ethan Frank, 13, Sophia Malinoski, 10, and Joe Macdonald, 14 — will go to the pediatric cancer fund at Doernbecher, according to a recent press release from the university.
The uniform with minimal seams and fewer panels repel water to maintain its light weight in wet conditions and creates a shrink-wrap fit, resulting in fewer grab points for the opposing team. It feature an Oregon Duck stomping the word ‘cancer’.
Gloves accompanying the uniform have the word ‘overcome’ printed on the knuckles. The head-to-toe look features inspiring graphics, modern use of colour fades and camo patterns and motivating slogans personal to three cancer survivors, Nike said in a press release.
For the past 14 years, Doernbecher Children’s Hospital patients have been invited to team up with Nike designers and developers to design footwear and apparel collections that have raised nearly $17 million to fund medical research, purchase equipment, recruit leading pediatric specialists and cover the cost of care for families in need, according to Nike.
