Chairman of DFS Richard Baker named as BRC chair

Richard Baker, chairman of DFS and also Whitbread will take over as the chair at the British Retail Consortium (BRC) from September 1, 2016.
Baker also holds various board and advisory roles with international companies including Aimia, owners of the Nectar Card and Advent International.
Before this he was chief executive at Boots Group Plc from 2003 to 2007 and prior to that was COO of Asda Group Plc.
Speaking on his appointment, Richard Baker said, "BRC has a strong track record of championing the needs of British retailers, small, medium and large.”
“A backdrop of unprecedented transformation in the industry and many external uncertainties provides a real opportunity to influence the future,” he added.
"Richard's wealth and breadth of experience will be critical as we take BRC forward through a period of profound political and economic change,” BRC CEO, Helen Dickinson too said. (AR)
