21st edition of India Market Days was inaugurated on 24th April 2014, at Apparel House, Gurgaon by Mr. Virender Uppal, Chairman AEPC along with Shri Sudhir Sekhri, Chairman (EP), Shri H K L Magu, Chairman (F & B), Shri Pritam Goel, Shri Lalit Thukral, Convener, Apparel Mart, EC member and Shri Puneet Kumar, Secretary General, AEPC, in the presence of international buyers, participants and AEPC officials.

Speaking on this occasion Chairman AEPC, Mr. Uppal said, “This is the first fair of the new fiscal which will kick-start a wonderful year and unfolding of series of events that AEPC has planned for the year 2014-15 for boosting garment exports and generating employment. AEPC has been pushing for the industry friendly policy to be announced in the new Foreign Trade Policy. We are working for it and the issues acting as hindrances to smooth trade had been taken up with the Government. Issues like All Industry Rates of Drawback, Interest subvention, procedural simplifications to cut the transaction cost and time, simplifications of labor laws, etc have been raised with the Government.”

Highlighting the export performance, Mr. Uppal, stated that, Garment Export in dollar terms for April-March of the FY 2013-14 has increased by 15.5 per cent over the same period of previous FY and reached to USD 14.94 billion, which is good performance despite the shrinking of our traditional markets, fluctuating currencies and uncertain global economic scenario and I take this opportunity to congratulate you all for this.

Chairman AEPC also underlined, “Garment Industry has huge potential to shift the additional unutilized labor out of agriculture and lift the large population above the empowerment line. To jumpstart job creation, India will need to improve its business and investment climate especially the labor incentive sector like the garment Industry.”

During his inaugural address Mr Uppal remarked, “India Market days  provide an opportunity to analyze and choose, from the wide spectrum of existing and emerging products at one place,  finalize bulk requirements and negotiate best rates for bulk orders. This event will help the garment exporters find the right partners for their business.”  “I also take this opportunity to invite you all to participate in huge numbers in the upcoming India International Garment Fair to be held in the month of July 2014 in New Delhi”, Chairman AEPC appealed.

Chairman Exports Promotion, Shri Sudhir Sekhri, conveyed his best wishes, in his statement stated that, “AEPC by organizing India Market Days, is once again ready to provide an opportunity and a platform where wonderful products are displayed in the showrooms.  Buyers’ may like to avail this opportunity to choose from the wide spectrum of products at one place. This Fair will help you develop your creative collection and augment your resources.”  We have good design and raw material strengths and our business is based on exceptional customer service, respect and integrity in the pursuit of mutually profitable outcome, he added.
