RNC wins NAUMD Best Dressed Competition

Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has been recognized by NAUMD (North-American Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors) as Best Dressed Canadian Agency for 2010. RNC, Newfoundland and Labrador's Provincial Police Service, has roots dating back to 1729. It is possibly the oldest of North America's civil police forces.

The agency was outfitted by R. Nicholls Distributing in Perfection Uniforms' innovative MatrixEcoSeries line of poly/cotton shirts and trousers. Earlier this year, Perfection garnered the industry-coveted UNIVATOR award (eco-friendly distinction) for the line with the transition to REPREVE 100% recycled polyester fibers. In addition to being eco-responsible, MatrixEcoSeries also boasts construction features such as hidden gussets in the shirts and pants plus an auto-adjust trouser waistband. Technological features in the fabric include water repellency, moisture wicking capabilities, unsurpassed color retention, and engineered stretch. The garments also have a UPF 40+ rating for UV Sun Protection, which is the highest standard for apparel, and permanent sleeve creases guarantee a just ironed appearance throughout the day.

Best Dressed distinction was determined in regard to overall design excellence of a uniform program. Criteria included:

• Innovative use of fabric, design, and accessories
• Overall attractiveness of entire program
• Effectiveness in design in identification of each team within the department

Brent O'Connor, who has been with R. Nicholls for 12 years and sold many types and brands of uniforms, says, “When I first saw the Matrix uniform, I knew I had a winner.
