The programme is open to anyone who visits Amazon's dedicated portal. Visitors can learn about the various nuances of the GST bill by visiting it, said media reports quoting Gopal Pillai, director and GM – seller services, Amazon India.
Besides free resources, the portal also boasts paid professional support and advice from various third-party service providers.
Amazon has also started conducting training sessions for sellers, which is helping the company understand pain points of the sellers and resolve them. Sellers can also visit Amazon's Seller Cafes present in over 30 cities in India for personal assistance. The necessary systems as well as process changes are being implemented to make sure that sellers are compliant with GST when it is launched on July 1.
Meanwhile, e-commerce companies are also concerned about tax collection at source (TCS), under which the marketplaces will have to deduct a certain amount payable to sellers to give it to the government. This is likely to result in Rs 400 crore per annum capital lock-down and discourage merchants from selling online. (KD)
