Amazon opens first fulfilment centre in Madhya Pradesh

The FC will further enable Amazon India to support deliveries under its Prime programme and offer faster delivery during the upcoming festive season. This is one of the seven recently announced FCs for this year. Amazon India will exit 2017 with 41 operational FCs in 13 states across the country with a combined storage space of close to 13 million cubic feet.

With the launch of our first FC in Madhya Pradesh, we strongly believe that we will be able to better serve our customers and also support our Prime promise of one-day & two-day delivery. Furthermore, for our sellers, the new FC will enable thousands of small & medium businesses to save money by replacing their upfront capital expense with low variable cost and pay only for the storage space they use and the orders that we fulfil,” said Akhil Saxena, vice president, India customer fulfilment, Amazon India.

The FC will enable small and medium businesses selling locally created products such as handlooms and handicraft to service customers seamlessly across the country. Through these FCs with state-of-the-art infrastructure, Amazon India will provide a delightful customer experience through Fulfilment By Amazon (FBA). When using FBA, sellers across India send their products to Amazon’s FCs and once an order is placed, Amazon picks, packs, and ships the order to the customer, provides customer service and manages returns on behalf of the sellers. Orders fulfilled by Amazon are eligible for Cash on Delivery, Guaranteed Next-Day, Same Day, Release Day, Morning delivery and Sunday delivery. Sellers always have the flexibility to choose the number of products they want to have fulfilled by Amazon and scale according to their business requirements. (KD)
