Ashok Rajani of Midas Touch is new AEPC chairman

Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), the official body of apparel exporters in India, has elected Ashok G Rajani as its new chairman for 2016-17 after the tenure of its former chairman Virender Uppal came to an end, according to a press statement released by AEPC.

Rajani is the founder of the leading ready garment export house – Midas Touch Exports, which deals in both woven and knitted garments. He also serves as the trustee of the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) and is the governor on the board of Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC) and Institute of Apparel Management (IAM).

Prior to this, he has served at Alok Industries Limited, a textile conglomerate based in India. He was also the president of CMAI, and was on the board of governors of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).

Rajani has been associated with AEPC since 1978 and he has been on the board of AEPC since 1994. He was the senior vice chairman of AEPC and was chairman (Export Promotion) at AEPC during 2000-2001, 2006-2007 and 2010-2011 before taking over as the chairman of AEPC. (MCJ)
