Australian to launch first pure Merino wool tennis line

In partnership with The Woolmark Company, Italian sportswear brand Australian will launch the world's first pure Merino wool tennis collection during ISPO 2016 to be held January 24-27, 2016.

Set up in 1956 and the oldest sportswear brand in the Italian market, with its iconic kangaroo logo, Australian is collaborating with The Woolmark Company to help revitalise wool in activewear.

“The collection offers sportsmen a modern winning performance, due to the many excellent qualities of the wool fibre, such as natural breathability, elasticity and odour resistance,” a Woolmark press release said.

The collection's fabric of choice is 140 pure Merino wool Jersey by Reda Active, while the collection is 100 per cent made in Italy, through an innovative technology that highlights wool's natural qualities.

“This has helped create an innovative and performing product, which is highly breathable, thermo-regulating and, last but not least, ideal for outdoor sports activity,” the Aussie wool marketing company stated.

The Australian collection comprises polo shirts, t-shirts and shorts, inspired by the clean and classical silhouettes of the 1960s.

Australian's ATP team will be the first ever to wear the collection during The Internazionali BNL d'Italia tournament, to be held in Rome from May 4-15, 2016.

The Woolmark Company through its extensive network of relationships spanning the international textile and fashion industries highlights Australian wool's position as the ultimate natural fibre.

The Woolmark logo is one of the world's most recognised and respected brands, providing assurance of the highest quality, and representing pioneering excellence and innovation from farm through to finished product.
