The Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Dewan Perniagaan Melayu Malaysia (Malay Chamber of Commerce Malaysia) (DPMM) to deepen trade and investment relations between Bangladesh and Malaysia. BMCCI president Syed Almas Kabir and DPMM president Dr. Haji Abd Halim bin Husin inked the agreement on behalf of their respective parties in Dhaka.

During the MoU signing ceremony, Kabir said that he hoped that the deal between the two chambers will play a key role in boosting trade and investment between the two nations. He mentioned that bilateral trade ties between Bangladesh and Malaysia have only strengthened ever since diplomatic relations were established between the two countries in 1972. He highlighted the BMCCI’s efforts in reinforcing the relationship between BMCCI members and Malaysian business communities.

Dr. Husin, who is also a vice president of the National Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM), conveyed his satisfaction regarding the overall trade and investment situation in Bangladesh, and was optimistic about the existing relations between the two countries being strengthened even more in the future.

Dr. Husin is in Bangladesh, accompanied by a business delegation, to take part in the D-8 Chambers of Commerce (D-8 CCI) summit.
