Chinese company to build $8.7 mn garments factory in Ishwardi EPZ

China’s IHM Garments and Textile Company Limited will establish a garments manufacturing industry in Bangladesh’s Ishwardi economic processing zone (EPZ) with an investment of $8.7 million. The project is anticipated to create employment opportunities for 2,457 people.

The fully foreign-owned company will annually produce 2.6 million pieces of woven tops and 10.6 million pieces of knit tops and pants for men, women, and children, Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) said in a media release.

An agreement to this effect has been signed between BEPZA and IHM Garments and Textile Company Limited at BEPZA Complex, Dhaka. Ali Reza Mazid, member (investment promotion) of BEPZA, and Yu Binbin, chairman of IHM Garments, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations. The executive chairman of BEPZA major general Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman witnessed the signing ceremony.
