Athletes from two Chinese teams at the Rio Olympics will wear apparel treated with Microban Interntional’s ZPTech odour control technology.

Textile odour control and prevention expert Microban International has partnered with Li Ning Company, a China-based sportswear company, which is providing the odour controlled apparel.

According to the company, this is the first time Microban branded technologies will be licensed by an apparel brand that supplies uniforms for national teams.

Chinese table tennis and shooting teams will wear sports shirts infused with Microban’s ZPTech, a wide-spectrum antimicrobial not only effective against bacteria, but also, the growth of fungi.

“It is durable with tests showing that it is 99.9 percent effective after more than 50 home launderings,” Microban Interntional said.

“ZPTech is used by more than 60 leading sports, athleisure, apparel and footwear brands, and earlier this year, received Bluesign approval,” the company added. (AR)
