Manchester United has named Columbia Sportswear as its first official outdoor apparel partner, under which Columbia will design and create dual branded outerwear, which it will debut in autumn 2016.

“The outerwear to be designed for outdoor activities includes hiking, climbing, mountaineering, as well as water and snow activities,” a Manchester United press release revealed.

“Columbia, the flagship brand of Columbia Sportswear Company has been creating innovative outdoor products for enthusiasts since 1938,” the football sports club said.

“The partnership with Manchester United is indicative of the demand for Columbia's high-quality and innovative outdoor gear,” it observed.

Manchester United MD Richard Arnold said, “Manchester United is proud to be partnering with Columbia Sportswear to bring our fans a new and exciting range of club branded products.”

“Like Manchester United, Columbia is steeped in history and has a reputation for creating innovative premium products and Columbia enjoys an international reach that matches the Club's,” Arnold added.

“We look forward to working together to provide our fans with a new way of expressing their support for the Club, via our range of branded outdoor apparel,” he informed.

“No matter what activity they are partaking in, this partnership will help the Club to accompany our fans wherever they go, taking us with them to new heights, shores and experiences," Arnold noted.

Senior VP of Columbia Merchandising and Design, Joe Boyle too said, “We are excited by the opportunity to unite the pinnacle franchise in sport with the global leader in the outdoor industry.”

“Together, we will deliver to Manchester United fans around the world an attractive line of outerwear featuring Columbia's most advanced proprietary technologies,” Boyle stated.

Through its 138-year heritage, Manchester United has won 62 trophies, enabling it to develop the world's leading sports brand and a global community of 659 million followers.

The large community offers Manchester United with a platform to generate revenue from multiple sources like sponsorship, merchandising, product licensing, new media and mobile, broadcasting, etc.

Columbia, the flagship brand of Columbia Sportswear Company, has been creating innovative outdoor products for enthusiasts since 1938.

Columbia has become a leading global brand by channelling the company's passion for the outdoors into technologies and performance products that keep people warm, dry, cool and protected year-round. (AR)
