The coronavirus outbreak has been affecting the Thai apparel industry since the beginning of January, according to Thai Garment Manufacturers Association president Yuttana Silpsarnvitch, who recently said manufacturers have been unable to deliver products on time because of the scarcity of raw materials like lace fabrics and buttons coming from China.

Advance orders from the past six or seven months would normally have been filled in January or February, he said, but those are instead being delayed till March and April, according to Thai newspaper report.

The association expects production to be back to normal by June. Orders are increasingly coming from the United States, Europe and Japan–customers who previously bought from China, Yuttana added.
