FY17 sales up 12% at Inditex Group

Driven by growth in all worldwide geographic regions where it is present, Spanish apparel marketer Inditex reported a 12 per cent year on year growth in net sales at €23.3 billion in the fiscal ending January 31, 2017. Same store sales increased 10 per cent in the fiscal, up from 8.5 per cent in the prior fiscal, which too came across all Inditex brands.
In the fiscal under review, earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 8 per cent over fiscal 2016 to €5.1 billion, while net profit was up 10 per cent at €3.2 billion.
Net cash position as on January 31, 2017 was €6.1 billion, up 15 per cent over the earlier fiscal.
In fiscal 2017, the Inditex Group generated over 9,596 new jobs and at the end of fiscal 2017, had 162,450 employees on its rolls.
