Lindex, a Swedish fashion chain within the Finnish Stockmann Group, is monitoring the present situation and focusing on securing that wages are being paid, and that both suppliers and workers abide by curfew and other restrictions as mandated by their governments. The company is also providing information about hygiene and importance of keeping distance.

In response to Fibre2Fashion's email asking how the company intends to support its suppliers during the current crisis, a Lindex spokesperson said, "The ongoing situation due to corona affects all of us, our surroundings, our business and the situation in all countries where we operate. In these times of uncertainty, we have close dialogues with our suppliers to secure our business relations on both short and long term, compliance with local law and the well-being of the factory workers."

"We have always been a strong business partners in our supply chain and are committed to remain one in times like these. Unfortunately, due to a decrease of visitors to our stores and sales, we have been forced to cancel and postpone orders. However, we always try to find the best possible solutions for both parties.

"At present, we are monitoring the situation together with our suppliers. We are focusing on securing that wages are being paid, and that restrictions and curfew is abided by both suppliers and workers. We are also supporting our suppliers with information for workers about hygiene and the importance of keeping distance. We are in discussions with WaterAid if we can add COVID-19 information in projects that are already running (Bangladesh) or about to start (Myanmar)," the spokesperson added.

Lindex has around 5,000 employees and approximately 480 stores in 18 markets in the Nordic countries, the Baltic States, Central Europe and the Middle East.
