The Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) will set up its third Pakistan Readymade Garments Technical Training Institute (PRGTTI) at Sialkot. The Institute will be set up by PRGMEA from its own funds and it has even prepared a plan for the same, according to its Chairman Ijaz A Khokhar.

The new PRGTTI would impart training to unemployed workers from 2,900 villages in Sialkot's Sambrial, Wazirabad, Daska and Pasroor regions.

Mr. Khokhar stated that PRGMEA, in association with the Ministry of Textile Industry, is already operating two PRGTTIs for men and women, one of which is in Karachi while other is in Lahore.

He further disclosed that PRGTTI Lahore has by now trained 7,000 workers for the RMG industry while PRGTTI Karachi has trained 10,000 workers.

Meanwhile, National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) Chairman, Muhammad Mumtaz Akhtar Kahloon, has assured full support to PRGMEA for providing training to unskilled workers on technical aspects of manufacturing readymade garments (RMG).

“The NAVTTC would adopt this as a model project for RMG industry” Mr. Kahloon said.
