Registering a year-on-year rise of 30 percent, the overall export turnover of the Vietnam apparel sector for the initial six months of the current year is likely to touch US$ 6.16 billion, according to the latest estimates.
If the trend persists, Vietnam's garment and textile sector is likely to achieve the export target of US$ 13 billion in 2011.
The positive trend in Vietnam's apparel exports can be attributed to a sense of stability prevailing in the export markets, as they have remained highly unaffected by the macro-economic changes.
Next to the European Union (EU) and Japan, the US is the most promising market for Vietnamese goods. In 2010, Vietnam generated revenues worth six billion US dollars from exports of garments to the US, registering an increase of 22 percent over 2009.
