AAFA happy with successful mock mark-up by Finance Committee

American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) President and CEO Kevin M. Burke encouraged the U.S. Senate Finance Committee to complete a successful mock mark-up on the three pending free trade agreements with Colombia, Panama, and South Korea.
“After nearly five years of waiting for these important trade-opening agreements to be realized, a successful mock mark-up by the Senate Finance Committee would be a welcome step toward getting America's trade agenda back on track. These agreements directly benefit U.S. workers, businesses, and families by helping to grow the U.S. economy through increased trade flows and job creation here in the United States.
“The U.S. apparel and footwear industry looks forward to the swift passage and implementation of these agreements, along with the much needed renewals and retroactive applications of the Andean Trade Preferences Act and the Generalized System of Preferences and the renewal of Trade Adjustment Assistance, before the end of the summer to ensure the United States remains competitive in the global marketplace.”
