New VP of Finance and Administration – AAFA

The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) announced a new addition to the AAFA staff. Suzanne Shomers has joined AAFA as Vice President of Finance and Administration. In this role, Shomers will oversee AAFA's financial and human resources functions. Shomers will also serve as the staff liaison to AAFA's Financial Management Committee. Shomers will take over for outgoing Chief Financial Officer Ralph Reinecke who will retire from AAFA on August 5, 2011, after 19 years of service.
“With her extensive association business management experience, Suzanne will be a great asset to the AAFA team,” said AAFA President and CEO Kevin M. Burke. “I look forward to working with her as AAFA continues to grow as the leading voice for the U.S. apparel and footwear industry in Washington, D.C. As we welcome Suzanne to our team, I congratulate Ralph on his retirement and thank him for his years of service to AAFA.”
With more than 20 years of association business management experience, Shomers joins AAFA from the Door and Hardware Institute (DHI) where she served as Chief Financial Officer for 14 years. Prior to DHI, Shomers worked for the National Association of Federal Credit Unions and Finalco Group, Inc. She holds a Master of Business Administration degree and Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from Marymount University along with a Bachelor of Science degree in clothing and textiles from Virginia Tech. Shomers is also a Certified Association Executive through the American Society of Association Executives.
