Liberty to have kidswear department

Liberty, the London-based luxury department store, will be opening a new department catering to children in February next year. The new department for kids will stock fashion and accessories, besides other children related items.

The department store is also planning to come out with its own range of Liberty-print kidswear line by summer of 2012.

The store has not sold kidswear for the last six years, but the demand from regular customers has made the store to rethink.

Although plans are not yet finalized, but the new department will most probably be housed on 1,500 sq ft area on the third floor.

Two French brands – Isabel Marant and Acne – are likely to mark their entry into the kidswear segment by producing clothes for children for the new department.

Little Marc, Stella McCartney, Notify, Lanvin, Miller London, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Gold Belgium, Converse and Caramel are the other kidswear brands that are likely to be stocked in the new Liberty department.
