Consumer clothing prices witness upward trend in 2011

Following the hike in raw material, energy and labor costs, clothing price also is also following a rising trend in recent months.
According to a report of consumer price of clothing by the National Bureau of Statistics, December 2010 ended the period of negative growth in prices of clothing when compared with those prevailing in April 2007.
Clothing consumer prices have witnessed positive growth for consecutive months since February 2011 and continue to expand, among which, June increase was as high as 2.1 percent.
China National Commercial Information Center released average sales prices of clothing from data collected from national 100 key large retailers, which also showed an accelerated growth compared to the same period last year.
The average unit price of garments rose 17.3 percent year on year in the first six months of 2011, up 5.2 percent from the 12.1 percent growth posted in the same period of the previous year.
