Blacks Leisure appoints Interim Chairman

Blacks Leisure announces that Peter Williams has been appointed a non-executive Director and interim Chairman of Blacks Leisure whilst a permanent replacement is sought.

Peter has been working with Blacks Leisure in an advisory capacity for a number of months and is therefore familiar with the business and well placed to carry out this role.

For 13 years up to 2004, Peter worked for Selfridges, initially as Chief Financial Officer and then as Chief Executive. Following this, he was the Chief Executive of Alpha Airports Group plc between 2006 and 2008 and subsequently served as an executive director of JJB Sports plc and EMI Group and a non-executive director of Capital Radio plc and GCap Media plc.

Peter is currently a director of a number of consumer facing businesses, including Chairman of Erno Laszlo Group Limited, Senior Independent Director of ASOS plc and Sportech plc, a non-executive director of Cineworld Group plc and Silverstone Holdings Limited, and is a member of the Design Council.

Mr Williams was an executive director of JJB Sports plc at the time of its company voluntary arrangement in May 2009.
