Riding mainly on the back of sharp rise of 25.36 percent during the month of April and 16.82 percent achieved during May, Thailand's garment exports for the first half of the current calendar year surged to US$ 1.654 billion, registering a year-on-year rise of 10.62 percent.
In spite of a notable rise in exports to Japan, Europe and Southeast Asian countries, the country's exports to US, its key export market, witnessed a slight fall.
Thailand's export to the US during the initial six months of the current year registering a year-on-year fall of 1.02 percent plummeted to US$ 586.6 million, accounting for 35.44 percent of the country's overall garment exports.
As against this, Thailand's exports to the EU and Japan, its second and third largest export destinations, grew by 8.63 percent and 30.21 percent respectively and surged to US$ 515.2 million and US$ 151 million.
