Japan exports more industrial sewing machines in H1

A rise has been registered in the volume of industrial sewing machine exports from Japan during the first half of the current calendar year, as per the statistics of Japan Sewing Machinery Manufacturers Association.

Value-wise, however, the exports of industrial sewing machines registered a negative growth.

While the country's export volume registering a year-on-year rise of 0.3 percent grew to 117,702 units during the review period, value-wise it registered a year-on-year fall of 0.5 percent and plummeted to ¥18,914.36 million.

Region-wise, exports to East Asia witnessed a fall of 1.4 percent and dropped to 44,949 units, while exports to Southeast Asia dipped 3.9 percent to 45,032 units. Value-wise exports to the two regions dipped by 12 percent and 0.5 percent respectively to ¥ 7,673.38 million and ¥ 5,861.91 million.

Country-wise, export to China during the review period grew by 16.5 percent to 27,077 units in terms of volume, but dipped by 6.2 percent to ¥ 3,914.02 million in terms of value.

Similarly, exports to Singapore grew by 0.6 percent to 25,502 units worth ¥ 4,691.93 million, depicting a 0.9 percent rise in value.

Exports to Hong Kong, however, plummeted by 23.9 percent to 13,948 units in terms of volume and 17.1 percent to ¥3,366.44 million in terms of value.

Production of industrial sewing machines in Japan during January-June period rose by 14.7 percent year-on-year to 93,625 units worth ¥ 17,400 million, up by 11 percent in terms of value.
