Top apparel exporter Brandix has reiterated its commitment to promoting best practices in health and occupational safety, by once again supporting the 'National Safety and Health Conference,' the apex national conference in the sphere.

Brandix is supporting the event this year as the Main Sponsor for the second consecutive time and fourth overall. Themed 'Prevention of occupational diseases and injuries through a safety culture,' this high powered conference is scheduled to be held at the Galadari Hotel in Colombo, on the 14th of October. It is organised by the National Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH) together with the Ministry of Labour Relations and Manpower.

The event will consist of a number of technical sessions and is expected to be attended by over 350 participants from different sectors of industry. The conference will be inaugurated by the Minister of Labour and Labour Relations, Gamini Lokuge and will be the highlight of the 'National Safety and Health Week' which will begin on 10th October.

"Brandix has always upheld the highest levels of safety and health within its factories and work places, as the Group believes its strength lies in a happy and healthy workforce," the Group's Chief Risk Officer, Mrs. Aroshi Perera said. "Thus, with the support of customers -- such as global clothing giants Victoria's Secret, GAP and Marks & Spencer -- Brandix has developed world-class practices in the sphere of occupational health and safety."

"The continued sponsorship of the conference enables Brandix to partner the Government in taking this message across the country in a sustained manner in an effort to upgrade the safety and health standards of Sri Lankan industry," she added.

"Brandix's support to the conference has helped to raise its profile," said Dr. Champika Amarasinghe, Director General of the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. "The commitment and cooperation of the private sector is essential to improve health and safety standards in the workplace and Brandix has taken the initiative in this regard."

The Brandix Group, the pioneer of the concept of 'total solutions' in Sri Lanka's apparel sector, is supported by 35 manufacturing locations in Sri Lanka and several sourcing offices strategically located regionally and internationally.
