ISPO AWARDs for outstanding innovations

"And the ISPO AWARD goes to..." So it will sound with the newly revised concept for the ISPO AWARDs which will be presented at the ISPO MUNICH 2012. "We want to increase the status of the ISPO AWARDs and establish it as a seal of approval in the sporting goods industry.

We have optimized the concept for this reason", explains Tobias Gröber, the Business Unit Leader for consumer goods at the Messe München GmbH. The submission deadline for the ISPO AWARD is January 5th, 2012 and the winners will be awarded January 30th, 2012 at the ISPO AWARD ceremony.

The ISPO has, for many years, given awards aiming to promote innovations and support brands. ISPO, the leading international sports business network, has expanded the concept. The new ISPO AWARDs provides the winning companies with a promotional quality label which acts as a guide for ISPO visitors, media and consumers. "There are no advertising methods as reliable as the opinion of an independent, expert jury,", says Gröber.

The central component is the extensive benefits package for the winners and nominees. ISPO MUNICH provides numerous promotional activities before, during and after the trade show. Included is an exhibition for the winners and nominees throughout the show. Thus, winners and nominees are presented in a professional and exciting environment. Wide media coverage is also guaranteed, as well as ISPO NEWS coverage.

Product presentation, of both winners and nominees, will be in the ISPO AWARD yearbook and on the ISPO website all year long. Hangtags are given in order to display the winning or nominated products at the point of sale. To round out the benefits, a roadshow with partners and retailers is planned. The winners receive their trophy at the ISPO AWARD ceremony on January 30th, 2012.

Two divisions, four segments and 56 awardees
ISPO AWARDs 2012 will be given in the two divisions, Product and Eco Responsibility. For the first time ever, the two divisions will then be divided into the Action, Ski, Outdoor and Performance segments.

In the Action segment are the adrenalin powered sports. The Ski segment summarizes the different variations of traditional skiing. Outdoor includes all sports activities where nature plays the central role. Performance brings together all sport styles which create high physical stress. "The new segments serve as an additional guide which help to split the individual communities into their respective markets,", adds Gröber. There are 56 total awardees.

Innovative products are the requirement for participation
The ISPO AWARDs are not to be confused with the ISPO BRANDNEW Award; the world's biggest start-up competition in the sporting industry. In the ISPO BRANDNEW Award, companies can not be older than four years, and can not have been previously registered at the ISPO MUNICH, while the ISPO AWARD does not exclude any sports brands from participating.

Thus, companies that do not have an exhibition at the ISPO are also welcome to participate in the ISPO AWARD. The most important requirement that participants must have is an innovative product.
