34th American Image Awards honorees announced

The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) announced the slate of honorees to be recognized during the 34th Annual AAFA American Image Awards to benefit Madison Square Boys & Girls Club, scheduled for May 7, 2012, at Cipriani 42nd in New York City, from 6:30 – 9:30PM. This is the first time the AAFA American Image Awards will take place at Cipriani 42nd Street.

This year's star-studded dinner, attended annually by nearly 700 top fashion industry leaders and celebrities, will honor Warnaco Group, Inc., with the Excellence in Global Leadership Award accepted by Warnaco President and CEO Helen McCluskey; Tanger Outlets, Inc., receiving the Excellence in Retail Award accepted by Tanger President and CEO Steve Tanger; kate spade new york receiving the Lifestyle Brand of the Year Award, accepted by Creative Director, Deborah Lloyd; Schwartz and Benjamin receiving the Footwear Brand of the Year Award accepted by President and CEO, Daniel Schwartz; Designer Yeohlee Teng accepting the Fashion Maverick Award; and, U.S. Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps accepting this year's Humanitarian Award.

“As an industry driven by creativity and innovation, we are thrilled to take time each year those who have excelled in the areas of leadership, innovation, and achievement,” said AAFA President and CEO Kevin M. Burke. “All of the 2012 honorees are highly deserving of this recognition. We are especially thrilled to be working together towards a very worthwhile cause, raising awareness and funds for the work achieved by the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club of America.”
