Tennis player John Isner new face of Lacoste

LACOSTE S.A. is pleased to announce that the brand has entered into a four-year partnership with American professional tennis player John Isner. From January 2012, John, 26 years old, will become one of the LACOSTE Ambassadors, both on and off the tennis court.

Isner began playing tennis at 9 years old. He is one of the tallest players of the circuit (2.06 m/6'9"). His serve is the greatest weapon of his game and as Andy Roddick, he is one of the players that have already done more than 1 000 aces in a season. During Wimbledon 2010, he won the longest match in tennis history (11 :05) against Nicolas Mahut, another LACOSTE player.

"I am proud to represent a brand that has such strong history in tennis and sports values. I am absolutely thrilled to be associated with such an amazing company and to become an ambassador for the LACOSTE brand and the Rene Lacoste legacy around the world" says Isner.

After Roddick who became a LACOSTE player in 2005, this new partnership with Isner perpetuates the strong history that the brand has with the United States. Indeed, Rene Lacoste, the founder of the brand was nicknamed "the Crocodile" in the 1920's during a tennis match in Boston. This animal soon came to symbolize Rene Lacoste's tenacity on the court. Today, LACOSTE hosts a Fashion Show twice a year in the United States during New York Fashion Week.

Christophe Chenut, CEO of LACOSTE, says "We are very pleased to welcome John Isner to the LACOSTE team. He joins Nicolas Mahut among others with whom he holds the record for the longest game in the history of tennis! We are very confident in his next results, especially on fast surfaces."

As part of the LACOSTE Tennis Team, which includes some of the biggest players, Isner will provide the brand with great visibility across various tournaments worldwide throughout the year.

Steve Birkhold, CEO of LACOSTE USA, says "Having John Isner as an ambassador for our brand in conjunction with Andy Roddick is a wonderful opportunity. He will serve as a great representative as he embodies the true spirit of LACOSTE. We look forward to this new partnership that will surely bring excitement to our American fans."

Relying on its authentic sporting roots, LACOSTE is represented today by more than a hundred tennis and golf champions from over 20 different countries.
