Rembrandt, the New Zealand-based suit maker, has opened its first exclusive brand outlet (EBO) in Auckland.

Currently, Rembrandt operates three EBOs in the Australian city of Sydney.

The company plans to increase its tally of outlets in New Zealand to four by the middle of this year. This will include three stores in Auckland and one in Palmerston North.

Founded in 1946 as a family-owned business, Rembrandt is into bespoke tailoring and is known for attention to detail and made-to-measure quality.

The firm has its manufacturing and distribution base in Lower Hutt, near Wellington. The company also places contracts for garments with specialist manufacturers in foreign countries.

Rembrandt is available in over 250 retailers in Australia and New Zealand, which include nine Rembrandt concession stores located within the department stores of David Jones in Australia and Smith & Caughey in New Zealand.

Almost half of Rembrandt's sales are from Australia. The largest contribution to the company's turnover is from suits. However, casual shirts, trousers including denim, business shirts and ties also form a big portion of sales.
