Canadian Apparel Federation (CAF) has submitted comments to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) as part of the FTC's review of textile labeling regulations. In its submission, CAF requested:

• That internationally accepted fiber names (ISO 2076: 2010) should be incorporated into U.S. regulations (and in Canada);
• That the FTC clarify disclosure requirements relating to products containing spandex;
• That the use of CA numbers be allowed in the United States (with reciprocal recognition of RN numbers in Canada); and
• That the use of multilingual labels not be restricted in the U.S.

In addition to CAF's support for reciprocal use of the CA and RN numbers, the American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA) and the U.S. National Retail Federation also supported this measure. CAF also joined with the American Apparel and Footwear Association and other industry groups in asking for revisions to certain requirements concerning the fiber content information that must be disclosed on hang tags.
