Macy's Inc., a premier retailer in the US, plans to hire around 4,000 employees in 2012, about the same number as last year.
Terry Lundgren, CEO of Macy's Inc, told a group of students aspiring to enter fashion industry that the retail chain needs more store managers, in addition to other positions that are to be filled.
Starting the initiative to recruit new talent, Mr. Lundgren said the positions that are to be filled are high-paying jobs.
Currently, Macy's operates 850 stores, which includes around 40 Bloomingdale's outlets, and it employs nearly 170,000 people.
Macy's opened a Bloomingdale outlet in Dubai two years ago in partnership with a local firm. Macy's CEO said it would take time to expand the department chain's international presence beyond Dubai.
Macy's online sales grew by 39.6 percent y-o-y during last fiscal and are expected to touch US$ 2 billion this year.
