Turkish retail chain Fenerium to expand in Europe

Fenerium, the retail chain of the Istanbul-based Fenerbahçe sports club, one of the biggest and the best supported clubs in Turkey, has announced plans to expand in European countries.
Fenerbahçe sports club said there is substantial demand for Fenerium items in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands and it will be opening branches in these countries in 2012.
The club is passing through a difficult phase since a match-fixing probe against it started last July.
Since then, supporters of the club have been buying Fenerium merchandise to show solidarity with the club.
In order to support the club, Fenerbahçe fans are buying items that they would not acquire in normal times, the club said.
As a result, Fenerium stores have posted record sales volumes of 60 million Turkish Liras in 2011, it added.
The volume of sales at Fenerium stores has risen 52 percent since July last year, the club informed.
